Question: How is SEM different from SEO
Answer:
Search Engine Marketing (SEM) is different from Search Engine Optimization (SEO) due to the way your site is presented and ranked in a search engine. With SEM, also referred to as Pay-Per-Click or Search Engine Placement, you bid on keywords in order to get your advertisement placed in the search engine results. For example, in Google these paid ads are placed above the organic listings in a beige box and on the far right side of the page.
Search Engine Optimization is a process of getting your site ranked in the free organic listings that are located on the left hand side of the page. While no one can guarantee placement in the organic ranks it is possible to structure your site so it does rank higher.
